La narrativa breve Rodrigo Rey Rosa: un vuelco a la racionalidad

Abstract

El presente artículo analiza la narrativa breve del autor guatemalteco Rodrigo Rey Rosa en relación con su novelística. Mientras que esta última hace énfasis ante todo en la dolorosa circunstancia de la Guatemala de posguerra, la cuentística tematiza el absurdo, narrado en una prosa de grado cero que traduce la desesperanza filosófica. El interés por la religión y lo maravilloso de los cuentos del autor puede comprenderse como un salto existencial desde el sinsentido del ser hasta lo inexplicable. La narrativa breve, trasunto artístico de nuestra época, no abandona nunca la esfera del irracionalismo, sello inconfundible de la literatura de Rodrigo Rey.

This article analyzes the brief narrative of the Guatemalan author Rodrigo Rey Rosa regarding his novel. While his novel emphasizes, more than anything, on the painful reality of post-war Guatemala, the narrative deals with the absurd; this absurd is narrated in a zero degree prose that expresses phylosophical hopelessness. The interest in his short stories for religion and the fantastic, can be understood as an existential jump from the being’s nonsense to the inexplicable. The brief narrative, artistic representation of our epoch, never leaves the sphere of irrationalism, a unique mark in Rodrigo Rey Rosa’s literature.
