This text proposes a discussion about the historical Costa Rican imaginary, and the way in which it does not allow for a complete comprehension of political violence during the 1940's. The core thesis is that Costa Ricans cannot realize, in a satisfactory way, where did the explosion of violence come from. Simultaneously, it presents the subject of our difficulties to perceive destructive processes engendered within our social network. Such difficulties are associated with its imaginary representations, which have not yet missed effectiveness.
