Los cuatro espejos de Quince Duncan y la representación del sujeto subalterno afrocaribeño

Abstract

Se analiza la representación cultural del sujeto afrocaribeño, así como sus posiciones discursivas frente a las del ideario costarricense. Argumento que los grupos socialmente poderosos construyen estereotipos culturales para la aceptación o el rechazo de los sujetos. En consecuencia, dentro de esta dicotomía, el individuo blanco e hispanohablante se convierte en el prototipo para el reconocimiento social. El ensayo comprueba la incapacidad de representación cultural del sujeto subalterno debido a imposiciones ideológicas de dominación arrastradas desde la ColoniaIn this article I analyze the Afro-Caribbean subject’s cultural representation, as well as their discursive positions in front of those of the Costa Rican ideology. I argue that the socially powerful groups build cultural stereotypes for the acceptance or the rejection of the subjects. In consequence, inside this dichotomy, the white and Spanish-speaker people become the prototype for the social recognition. The article checks the inability of cultural representation of the subordinate subject due to ideological impositions of dominance crawled from the Colony.
